UUID Generator
Generate random version 4 or time-ordered version 7 UUIDs, one at a time or in bulk, with your browser's secure random generator.
- Local calculation
- The result is calculated in your browser.
- Private by default
- Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
How it works
Version 4 UUIDs come from crypto.randomUUID(), which uses 122 random bits from a cryptographically secure source.
Version 7 UUIDs (RFC 9562) start with a 48-bit Unix timestamp in milliseconds followed by random bits, so they sort by creation time. They make good database keys because new rows land at the end of indexes.
Questions
Can two generated UUIDs collide?
In practice, no. A version 4 UUID has 122 random bits and a version 7 UUID still has 74, so collisions are negligible even across billions of identifiers.
