Credit Card Validator
Check a card number with the Luhn checksum and detect its brand from the prefix. Nothing you type is sent or stored.
- Format check only
- Checks structure and check digits. It does not confirm that the document, card or account really exists.
- Private by default
- Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
How it works
The Luhn algorithm doubles every second digit from the right and checks that the total is a multiple of 10, which catches most typos. The brand is inferred from the number's leading digits.
Questions
Does a valid result mean the card works?
No. It only means the number is well formed. Whether a card exists, is active or has funds can only be confirmed by its issuer during a payment.
Is it safe to type a real card number here?
The check runs entirely in your browser and the number is never transmitted or saved, but there is no reason to use a real card for a format check. Test numbers work just as well.
