RG Validator
Check an RG identity number: a plausible length for any state, plus the check digit for São Paulo numbers that have one.
- Format check only
- Checks structure and check digits. It does not confirm that the document, card or account really exists.
- Private by default
- Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
How it works
There is no national rule for RG numbers: each state issues its own format and many have no check digit at all, so the length check applies everywhere.
When the number has nine characters, it is also checked against the São Paulo rule: the first eight digits are weighted from 2 to 9 and the check digit is 11 minus the remainder of the sum divided by 11, written as X when it would be 10.
Questions
Does a valid result mean the document exists?
No. The check only confirms that the number has the right shape and that its check digits are consistent. Only the issuing authority can confirm that a document was actually issued and belongs to someone.
