MD5 Hash Generator
Generate the MD5 hash of any text locally. Useful for checksums and legacy systems; do not use MD5 for passwords.
- Local calculation
- The result is calculated in your browser.
- Private by default
- Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
How it works
The Web Crypto API does not include MD5, so the hash is computed by a small implementation of RFC 1321 that runs in this page. The 128-bit digest is shown in hexadecimal.
Questions
Is MD5 secure?
No. MD5 collisions can be produced cheaply, so it must not be used for passwords or signatures. It is still fine for detecting accidental file changes.
